Man Convicted In Fraud Scheme Attacks Federal Prosecutor In Court

DETROIT – 46 year old Ronnie Duke , who was convicted in a fraud scheme, attacked a federal prosecutor during a court appearance in Detroit, according to the authorities.

In June, he fled after being sentenced to 13 years in jail for his role in a wide-ranging mortgage fraud. On Monday morning, he was taken into custody in Saline, more than 8 months after failing to surrender to prison officials.

On Monday afternoon, Duke assaulted a female prosecutor when he made an appearance in federal court, said U.S. District Court spokesman Rod Hansen. He also said that Duke leaped at the woman following his arraignment.

Marshals controlled Duke and medical personnel were called there. The prosecutor opted to take herself to an area hospital.

Harold Gurewitz, Duke’s former attorney, said that he hasn’t heard from Duke since he fled last year.
